The dictionary lemma is întru, but the measured data tells the truth: over 99% of its use is the hyphenated într-, and the full word întru is archaic. Într- is simply what în becomes in front of un and o. You never say *în un oraș — you say într-un oraș, and that single rule is the whole entry.
